This 2022 Detroit Month of Design exhibit featured the work of CoAD faculty, students from all programs along with contemporary Detroit-area artists and designers staged throughout the rooms in the main residence of Ford House, Edsel and Eleanor Ford’s historic lakeside home in Grosse Pointe Shores, MI. Selected works displayed explored the meaning and expression of craft in the 21st century through thoughtful and playful juxtapositions with the museum’s collection of the Fords’ art and antiques and the interior architectural features of the Albert Kahn-designed 1929 home.

CoAD mission with this innovative exhibition was to provoke questions about the role of technology in contributing to new aesthetic values and trends, the meaning of digital craftsmanship, the relationship between tools, materials, cultures and economies, and more.

This exhibition has concluded but please enjoy the pieces below.

Note: A majority of the art and design showcased in this exhibition is for sale.
