The climate of design-related professions, as well as demand by current students in the College of Architecture and Design, prompted the development of a minor in Game Design and Graphic Design. Current professional design practice favors those with a broader skill-set; this is echoed by practitioners on the advisory board for the Graphic Design programs at LTU. Students who receive a minor in Game Design and Graphic Design would develop a deeper understanding of the discipline, beyond the principles that can be fulfilled by open electives.

For these reasons, we are offering a Minor in Game Design and a Minor in Graphic Design; each consisting of 24 credits.

A minor is an academic study area at the undergraduate level that allows current students to pursue expertise secondary to their major and to receive recognition for completing the study.

All current LTU students are eligible to pursue a minor in the College of Architecture and Design (CoAD). So as to provide a study substantial enough to be considered a well-formed disciplinary study, minors in the College are generally between 18 and 24 credits. However, counting pre-requisites, the total credit footprint of minors could approach 30 credits. Transfer students may apply a portion of their transfer credit toward the attainment of a minor and current students may be eligible to use a percentage of courses required for a major to earn a minor.

Currently, the CoAD offers minors in the following areas:
Minor in Game Design
Minor in Graphic Design

Please contact Lilian Crum at lcrum@ltu.edu for more information on how to apply for a minor.
