This study will examine the effects of stress on labor and delivery outcome. Specifically, we are trying to identify the various sources of stress which range from those which are very well know (e.g., medical complications) to those which are often overlooked (e.g., the presence of unwanted persons in the delivery room, rude medical staff, extended family requesting constant updates, etc.). We are also trying to identify any protective factors which may serve to buffer the effects of stress.
