All admitted students are automatically reviewed for merit scholarship upon acceptance. Merit scholarship amounts range from $4,500 to $16,000 per year starting with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. March 1st is the merit scholarship deadline -- make sure that you have submitted your application and all materials for admission before this point. Test scores are not required to receive scholarships; students who are unable to submit standardized scores will not be disadvantaged in the merit scholarship process. However, if you have already taken or plan on taking the SAT or ACT and would like to submit test scores, your test scores will be considered supplemental information.
New students are eligible to receive up to two scholarships. Additional scholarship opportunities can be found under "Other LTU Scholarships". Students are only eligible for one merit based scholarship OR the Raise.me micro-scholarships. Merit based freshman scholarships, Raise.me micro-scholarships and other LTU scholarships are only offered to new incoming students in the fall semester.
The following types of students are not eligible to receive merit based scholarships:
- students returning to LTU
- students who change entry terms
- students pursuing a second Bachelor's degree.
A full explanation of scholarship policies is available on the Office of Financial Aid website here.
Merit Scholarships
Since we have gone test optional for the Fall 2023 semester we are now automatically reviewing any accepted student for merit scholarship. Our scholarship review committee is conducting a merit-based, holistic review for each accepted student, taking a look at many factors like a student’s incoming GPA, the courses taken in high school, and the rigor of those courses – for example, a student taking high level math courses or a focus on science courses during their time in high school to intensify the rigor of their schedule and add a bit of a challenge. ACT or SAT scores are not required to receive a scholarship. Students must be admitted to LTU by March 1st to be reviewed for a merit scholarship.
