Crossing Disciplines with Computational Tools and Methodologies

Computational designers are for architecture and industrial design what producers are for music. Arturo Tedeschi will show how computational methodologies - empowered by design culture - allow creative mind to cross the imposed boundaries among design, architecture, art and industry.

From footwear to transportation design, from furniture to infrastructure the lecture will be a journey over twelve years of built projects and advanced concepts with the common thread of research, style and innovation.

Guests will better understand the state of the art of computational tools and their use in different areas of industrial design and architecture. Particular focus will be done to the emergence of AI as a novel creative companion.

RSVP to receive the lecture location details.

LTU CoAD's Design x Technology Lunch and Learn Lecture Series is free and open to all. A lite lunch will be provided.

About Arturo

Arturo Tedeschi is an Italian architect and computational designer internationally renowned for his sculptural and visionary approach combined with research on advanced design methods, materials and fabrication technologies. His use of digital technologies blurs the line between disciplines and emphasizes the semantic and emotional values of objects. Qualities such as functionality, sustainability and innovation are always complemented by a vision where forms are capable of triggering an emotional response and inspire the user. As a consultant he collaborated with world-known brands and design offices providing services related to algorithmic modeling, complex geometry, digital fabrication, virtual reality and data driven design. His personal work has been featured in international magazines and exhibited worldwide. He is the author of the book AAD Algorithms-Aided Design unanimously considered the global reference on the subject and since 2011 he promoted and directed several events and workshops that trained a generation of students and professionals. In 2019 he was appointed Italian Ambassador for Design by Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He lives and works in Milano.
