Accept the Loans You Wish To Receive
To Accept:
- • Go to banner.ltu.edu
- Click ‘Login to Secure Area’
- User ID (student’s ID # w/out initials, 9 digits)
- First time login- the PIN is the student’s birth date (mmddyy)
- Login
- Click ‘Student & Financial Aid’
- Click ‘Financial Aid’
- Click ‘Financial Aid Self-Service
- Click ‘Award Offer’
- Select appropriate academic school year
- Scroll through types of aid and offers
- Select either:
- Accept/Decline/Modify for each specific award
- Hit Submit
Complete the Entrance Counseling for Student Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans
- Go to www.studentaid.gov and sign in
- Select ‘Complete Loan Counseling’ (Entrance)
Complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) for Student Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans
- Go to www.studentaid.gov and sign in
- Select ‘Complete Loan Agreement’ (MPN)
- Select ‘Subsidized/Unsubsidized’
Complete the Annual Student Loan Acknowledgement
- Student and Parent must complete yearly
- Go to www.studentaid.gov and sign in
- Select ‘Complete Your Annual Student Loan Acknowledgement’

For Parent PLUS
Parent PLUS loans are credit-based loans that parents can apply for in addition to Subsidized/Unsubsidized Student Loans
- Get started: Go to www.studentloans.gov and sign in
- Click on ‘Parent’
- Select ‘Apply for a Parent Plus Loan’
- Indicate the amount of funds you want to borrow
- Lawrence Tech will receive an electronic document with the information necessary to process a PLUS loan for you. Be sure to complete Plus Counseling, if required
- Go to www.studentaid.gov and sign in.
- Click on ‘Parent’
- Select ‘Complete PLUS Credit Counseling’
- Go to www.studentaid.gov and sign in.
Complete the Parent PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN)
- Go to www.studentaid.gov and sign in with the requested information
- Select ‘Complete Loan Agreement’(MPN)
- Select ‘PLUS MPN for Parents’
- The parent who applies for the loan must be the same parent to complete the MPN

There will be 6 Modules that have to be completed. Each module will have "Check Your Knowledge" questions that you will need to complete in order to move forward. Carefully read each page as it will give you specific knowledge about the loans.

When you get to this page and click “Submit” You have completed Entrance Loan Counseling.

Enter Borrower’s Information.
Step 6:
Review all information provided.
Review the "Important notices".
Click the boxes agreeing to the statements below.
Select “Continue” to authorize the Department of Education to run your credit application.
Step 7:
Once you have clicked Continue, your credit application will be run.
If your credit application is approved, you will be required to complete a Master Promissory Note which can be found on studentaid.gov.
If your credit application is not approved, you will have the following options:
- Pursue an Endorser (endorser must be credit worthy)
- Appeal the decision to the Department of Education
The application will be sent to the school that was selected in the application for processing.
