The laptop program at Lawrence Tech ensures that students are well prepared to take advantage of advanced learning opportunities, have greater access to educational resources, and achieve a competitive edge in the workplace. As an undergraduate student at Lawrence Technological University, you’ll receive an advantage that literally no other university in the nation offers. Software
Offered exclusively to all LTU undergrad students. It includes access to current industry standard software. You will have 24/7 access these expensive and specialized programs – valued up to $15,000 even at student pricing.
Hardware
Provides access to industry standard software and the hardware to run it along with on-site and remote technical support of that software and hardware.
Everywhere
Secure network wireless service throughout the campus and VPN services to access campus-only software so you can engage in your learning everywhere. No need to reserve time at a computer lab across campus.
Each fall semester, specially configured and branded laptop units, complete with furnished software, are available to all undergraduate and some graduate students after program conditions are met. See the Undergraduate students or Graduate students section below for program condition details. Once these conditions are met, eligible students may pick up their laptop from the Help Desk.
Help Desk
Located: C203 Taubman Student Services Center
All undergraduate students are eligible to participate in the Laptop Initiative Program.
All students* will need to satisfy these conditions before receiving their laptop:
- Registered for classes for the current semester
- Paid the $500 security deposit.
- Obtain a Lawrence Tech photo ID card.
- Signed Laptop Agreement in BannerWeb.
*Students under age 18 must print out the Under 18 Laptop Agreement, then have a parent or guardian provide credit card information, and sign the laptop agreement.
Students can fulfill these requirements at the One Stop Service Desk on the 3rd floor of the Taubman Student Services Center.
Master of Architecture students and Master of Science in Computer Science, Direct Entry (4+1) students are eligible to participate in the Laptop Initiative Program and are subject to the same terms and conditions as eligible undergraduate students. Review the Undergraduate section for details.
All other graduate students are not currently included in the laptop program, but may use an LTU laptop for $95 per credit hour if laptops are available after distribution to all other eligible members. All users borrowing laptops from Lawrence Tech are subject to the terms and conditions listed in the undergraduate section.

Personal Computers
Students may opt out of the Laptop Program and use their own laptops; however, this will not reduce the student's tuition and fees.
With a personally-owned laptops, the student also become wholly responsible for acquiring all college-required software. Due to software licensing restrictions, we cannot install software on personally owned laptops with the exception of some software available to students.
Repair and exchange privileges and other services available through the Help Desk are not available for personally owned machines.
