Who are We?

The construction industry struggles with safety performance; as a result, many people are killed or seriously injured. The CSRC has a process that helps industry leaders contribute to better safety performance so they can transfer their knowledge and extensive experience into safety practices that save lives and improve overall industry performance.

Why the CSRC?

Every year, far too many men and women working in the construction industry are either killed or seriously injured as a result of on-the-job accidents.

US construction workers:

  • Have the nation’s highest share of fatalities at 21% while accounting for only 4.5% of the workforce
  • Are 5.5 times more likely to be fatally injured than workers in other occupations, according to a CSRC study
  • Experienced 1,008 fatalities and over 174,000 injuries in 2020
  • Have sadly left behind countless grieving family members.

US construction firms:

  • Pay out indirect, out-of-pocket costs of accidents that can be approximately 4-times greater than those covered by insurance
  • Can reap an estimated $4 - $6 in savings for every $1 invested in a safety and health program
  • Experience loss of goodwill, bad publicity, and increased Experience Modification Rates as a result of accidents.

The CSRC has been established to aid national efforts to reduce the high rates of fatal and non-fatal injury within the construction industry through a membership-driven collaboration of companies, municipalities, associations, and agencies.

What is the Goal?

Our goal is to reduce accidents and return construction workers safely back home to their families and friends while saving construction firms time and money by:

  • Conducting groundbreaking interdisciplinary safety research based on scientific methods.
  • Transforming research findings and recommendations into adoptable best practices.
  • Converting safety best-practices into effective training programs.
