Soils & Foundations

This course covers the analysis, classification, and strength of soil. This includes changes in gradation, moisture content, density, and material for enhancement of soil as a construction material. Other natural and man-made construction materials are examined through analysis of test result, introduction to soil mechanics. The origin and engineering characteristics of soil, soil classification systems, the strength of soil masses, control of structural embankments, and an introduction to the design of foundations are covered.
