The course examines the traditional human resources functions from a theoretical and legal point of view. Emphasis is placed on how HRM programs add value and create competitive advantage and on the need for HRM practices to be internally consistent and aligned with the firm’s strategy. Recent and developing trends in human resources practices are also discussed. Topics covered: employment law, job analysis methods, selection tests, training and development, coaching and mentoring, performance appraisal, retention and career planning, compensation, incentives and benefits, negotiation and labor relations.
