This course reviews the fundamental concepts and principles of engineering mechanics as applied to vehicle crash dynamics. Additional topics include: Federal Motor and Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and regulations; quasi-static and high speed impact load cases that encompass front, side and rear impacts; topics related to typical and advanced materials used in improving crashworthiness, and their characterization; and simulation techniques for crashworthiness.
