This study introduces students to both fundamental and advanced knowledge for building HVAC controls systems. This includes governing concepts of control loops and familiarity with control system implementations, structure of direct digital control systems and familiarity with sensors, actuators, and control algorithms commonly used in HVAC systems. Once the fundamentals of controls systems are established, this course includes the design of controls for a HVAC unit and concludes with the design and specification of controls for a building including a chilled water plant.
