BI Renewable Energy Sys.

This course will focus on renewable energy systems that are connected to a building's envelope and/or mechanical/electrical systems. Students will study solar geometry, photovoltaic panels, solar thermal panels, photovoltaic-thermal panels, wind/water turbines, water-based geothermal systems, safety standards/codes, safety equipment, operational considerations, grid-tied systems, microgrides and storage systems. Students will gain an in-depth knowledge of the various systems, design a full-functional renewable energy system, and analyze/modify the components for maximum output.
